The Search for Utah’s Best Cheeseburger Begins: $7,000 in Total Prizes Up for Grabs

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The Utah Beef Council and DairyWest are proud to announce the launch of the Utah Cheeseburger Battle, a statewide competition designed to celebrate Utah’s vibrant cheeseburger scene and drive traffic to local restaurants. Starting on May 15, the search is officially on for the best cheeseburgers in the Beehive State. This promotion aims to boost local commerce by encouraging consumers to visit participating establishments, while simultaneously highlighting the high-quality beef and dairy products produced by Utah’s farmers and ranchers.

 Nominate the Best Cheeseburger!

Why Restaurants Should Enter

The Utah Cheeseburger Battle offers a unique opportunity for local restaurants to showcase their signature burgers to a statewide audience. Participating restaurants will compete for a share of $7,000 in prize money:

  • 1st Place: $3,000
  • 2nd Place: $2,000
  • 3rd Place: $1,000
  • People’s Choice Award: $1,000

How the Competition Works

  • Phase 1: Recruitment (May 15 – June 15): Restaurants are invited to self-nominate their best cheeseburger. To qualify, the burger must feature both beef and cheese. Consumers are also welcome to nominate their favorite local spots. All consumer nominations will be kept confidential and not shared with the nominated restaurants.
  • Phase 2: Consumer Voting (July 1 – July 31): After a selection committee determines the top finalists, the public will vote for their favorites via real-time voting platform.
  • Phase 3: Final Judging (August 8 – 14): The top five vote-getters will move to a final judging round, where a panel of experts will taste and crown the official winners.

Marketing Support for Finalists

To ensure the success of our finalists, the Utah Beef Council and DairyWest will provide professional marketing kits. These kits include table tents, posters, and digital assets with QR codes linked directly to the voting site, making it easy for customers to support their favorite local burger in-house.

Restaurant owners can submit their nomination starting May 15 via the official forms hosted on utahbeef.org and dairywest.com. “We are excited to partner with the Utah Restaurant Association focusing on the incredible variety of cheeseburger offerings throughout the state,” said Jacob Schmidt, Director of Marketing at the Utah Beef Council. "We wanted to create a fun way for restaurants to highlight their best work while encouraging people to eat local. It’s a win for the restaurants, a win for our producers, and a win for anyone in Utah who loves a great burger."
